...what vehicle would you buy that would leave other people scratching their heads or make them say, “You won 900 million dollars and you bought THAT?”
I want !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! I want it so bad that my nethers are tingling. A single-cab, manual 4x4 Ram 3500. I kind of wish this one had the vinyl floor instead of carpet, but I’d live. I’m sure I could find one closer, but this is almost the perfect combo of equipment. Plus there’s the bonus of driving from Colorado to Montana to get it, and then driving back. I love big, manual, basic trucks. It’s not bro’d out, and it doesn’t have all that luxury BS that most of the large trucks are saddled with nowadays.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d still buy a shitload of other vehicles. It’s just that this would be the first purchase.

I'd buy/build an awesome off road vehicle. That doesn't look like anything because scratches happen.

Minus the stickers of course, and in diesel.
It’s the ultimate go anywhere, sleep anywhere, bring your stuff along vehicle.

Car enthusiasts would understand, but others will wonder why you love this 30 year old Toyota hatch so much.
With Superball type money I’d be more inclined to do engine-swapped cars and restomods as opposed to off-the-shelf supercars (except for something like Pagani or Koenigsegg).
Also (first couple of minutes is all you need to see):

I’d buy one of George Barris’s creations and immediately crush it.

The most minty E36 I could find of every engine they offered. Because with that much money why would anyone buy a not brand new or classic BMWs but instead a bunch of just old 90s ones? Because I love me some E36.

There’s a Ford dealer near my inlaws that has a 68 ford Mustang coupe with the 302 V8. It’s got a primered black hood and red paint that has seen better days and black torque thrust wheels. Basically the best looking daily driveable classic mustang I’d ever seen

Back in the late 90's my boss at my landscaping job added a work truck mid season: a F350 long bed 4x4 regular cab. It was fire engine red and had the 460 V8. Bare bones truck. It was meant to pull mowers but itssecondary use was hoonage.
It felt like it had no suspension. We loved it
I understand your lust. That RAM is bad ass!!!!

In ‘85 I rode in one of those Crown Vics with my grandparents from Colorado all the way to their home in Pontiac, Michigan, detouring through South Dakota so we could see Mount Rushmore. It was an interesting trip, for sure.

I don’t really understand the hatred for them round here. Who doesn’t want the only modern convertible land yacht?
We’d all rock one of those, right? What’s the difference?
Also, I love the idea of having the kind of lifestyle for which the Crosscab would be the perfect niche vehicle: lots of cruising to beaches and so-on down half-made roads, in sunny weather, in no kind of hurry.

This particular $2,000 Mustang on Craigslist right now. It’s exactly the same as my first car, only this one is a stick.

I love my parents’ ‘91 F150. It’s beat up, smells a bit and lots of stuff doesn’t work (plus the gear linkage is...interesting, but works), but man I love driving it.

Came home from the hospital in the Tercel. Was dad’s DD until ~87. Very few memories of it, but there’s some hanging in there.
Funny thing about the ‘burb. Dad sold his in ~93-94. I missed in so I bought a very similar (in trim/color, mine was much much shittier) in 97 for my first car. Parents were not happy with me driving that tank as a first vehicle, but I never whacked anything.

Confession: I’ve never liked Ferraris. The only one I’ve ever actually wanted was the 456 for some reason.

Yes, maybe just an hour away on some land, or a state like Colorado, Missouri is a bit plain.
![]() 01/09/2016 at 14:56 |

Both are good choices. I like the 3rd gen hatch just a bit better, but that’s because it was the first car my mom ever bought new and it was one of the cars I learned to drive on.

I’m not gonna win the lottery, but it would be a red 5-door Golf II, exactly like the car I owned 10 years ago.
I’ve been pricing them out on German car sites, 390 Euro + oversea shipping would get me one...

Nice! There’s someone who lives a few blocks away who has one, and it looks like it gets driven every day. That makes me happy.

I do actually like Ferraris, and if I were to not win the lottery I might try finding a way to get myself an old school manual transmission one... The 456 would do quite nicely. Or an FF, just because I love them.
But if I were to win the lottery? Screw everyone, I’m going to drive a Fiero whenever I can.

I’m in France, so there’s a chance I might get one one day, if the prices for early ones don’t rise too much. Those very early ones, in orange, 3-door, would be perfect. But here, R5's are still considered shitboxes, so I have to grab one before everyone realizes how cool they are!

As a former Fiat 500 owner, I can tell you the turbo is a good idea. The base engine is decent but it always felt like it could use a few more hp.
